Amazing new lizard joins sculpture trail

What an amazing new addition to the Sculpture down the Lachlan trail between Forbes and Condobolin along the Lachlan River.

‘Varanus’ by Australian sculpture Glen Star Star Steel Art, is a giant 20m Goanna, Gugaa or Girawa in Wiradjuri.

See it pinned to the map.

This sculpture tells the significance of Gugaa to Wiradjuri people, as a totemic animal as well as an important food source. ‘The bigger the Gugaa the more people fed. Contented bellies meant a contented tribe’

Congratulations to Forbes Arts Society, Forbes Shire Council and Evolution Mining Ltd on the unveiling this magnificent sculpture.
