The Local Women of the Year Awards is an annual program that celebrates outstanding women in local communities, coinciding with Women’s History Month.
Member for Bathurst, The Hon. Paul Toole MP, selected Bathurst District Historical Society President, Mary Fletcher, as Bathurst’s Local Woman of the Year 2026, in recognition of her contributions to the Bathurst community and tireless efforts in preserving Bathurst’s past.
Mary Fletcher became a member of the Bathurst District Historical Society in 1995 and was awarded Life Membership in 2018. She has volunteered as the Photographic Collection Curator and as a committee member for many years. She became President in 2020.
“Her efforts in managing this organisation and its collection, with its members, volunteers, school groups and events (just to name a few!) have been recognised with this award,” BDHS said on Facebook.
