Brock Heritage Festival Honours the King of the Mountain this Race Week

From Bathurst Regional Council.

The 2026 Repco Bathurst 1000 is fast approaching and a week’s worth of off-track events are planned to celebrate the excitement of another Great Race and pay tribute to a defining figure of Australian Motorsport, Peter Brock, twenty years on from his passing.

Mayor Cr Robert Taylor remarked the off-track program brings the enthusiasm and buzz of the Bathurst 1000 into the heart of our CBD.

“Leading up to race day on Sunday 11 October, Council will be hosting the ever-popular week of off-track activities in anticipation of the Great Race up at The Mount. Plus, this year will include new, one-off events celebrating the King of the Mountain Peter Brock, twenty years on. Bathurst locals, visitors and motorsport fans will experience a free, high impact town centre tribute celebrating Peter Brocks’ legacy as part of the Bathurst 1000.

“Race Week will kick off on Monday 5 October with the Brock Heritage Festival in operation. This week-long experience will celebrate the extraordinary life and racing career of the nine-time Bathurst winner, bringing together the cars, images and defining moments that made Peter Brock an Australian sporting icon.

“Immerse yourself in ‘Peter’s Pit Lane’ at the National Motor Racing Museum, included free to Repco Bathurst 1000 ticket holders, a collection of iconic cars representing the different eras of Brock’s career, from his first Bathurst appearance in 1969 through to his final years behind the wheel. Plus, head over to Church Street for ‘Brocky’s Helmet,’ surrounded by vision, imagery and sound, you can experience the moments and memories that shaped Brock’s story, while getting right up close to two very special cars rarely seen in public.

“Up next, Fan-Fest Tuesday powered by Repco is back for its second year and will bring Kings Parade alive with massive giveaways, twilight markets, food trucks and family fun; then on Wednesday the ever-popular Street Party will see the Supercars Track to Town convoy roll into Russell Street with the all-driver signing session and so much more!” said Mayor Taylor.

The beloved Bathurst 10000 Colouring in Competition will also be back for another year, along with countless Business Opportunities which Mayor Taylor noted enable Bathurst businesses to capitalise on the increased visitation to the Region.

“To make the most of the boost in foot traffic around town, local businesses are invited to be part of the on-stage giveaways at Fan-Fest Tuesday as well as inclusion in the Bathurst Bargain Book. This brochure will feature discounts and offers to encourage race goers to visit and spend at local businesses in town. And don’t forget to get creative – businesses that decorate their window displays will be in the running to win great prizes and, thanks to our friends at Repco, will also receive 4 x 4-day general admission passes to the 2026 Repco Bathurst 1000!” said Mayor Taylor.

Race week will close with an afternoon CBD concert on Monday 12 October, made possible by NSW Government funding. The entertainment schedule is still being finalised, however the program aim is to create a strong post-race experience that helps spread the departure peak and reduce congestion on the Great Western Highway by encouraging some race fans to extend their stay in town.

To support this, Supercars has extended the campground departure time to provide campers with the option to remain onsite until 10am Tuesday morning. Council has similarly extended stays at our Council-managed CBD camping sites for those wanting to remain in Bathurst for the Monday activation. This will provide fans with flexibility, spread departures across a few days and alleviate traffic congestion on key transport routes out of Bathurst.
