Celebrating 10 Years of the Bathurst Heritage Trades Trail

Tickets are now on sale for the 10th anniversary of the award-winning Bathurst Heritage Trades Trail, returning to the historic Bathurst Showground from 10am-4pm on 11-12 April 2026.

Bathurst Mayor, Cr Robert Taylor, noted this milestone year will mark a decade of celebrating the traditional trades, crafts and cultural heritage that have helped shape our Bathurst Region.

“Next April, more than 100 skilled artisans will return to Bathurst Showground to demonstrate both rare and traditional trades, including blacksmithing, dry-stone walling, furniture making, embroidery, lace making, and a special showcase of traditional Aboriginal tool and weapon making. These demonstrations will take place throughout the historic pavilions and open spaces of the Showground.

“As a signature event of the Autumn Colours Heritage Festival, the Bathurst Heritage Trades Trail is set against our region’s most spectacular season, when the town and surrounding villages come alive with vibrant autumn colours,” said Mayor Taylor.

Visitors to the Bathurst Heritage Trades Trail can look forward to a lively program featuring:

  • Stalls, displays, entertainment and hands-on demonstrations
  • Food prepared by the CWA
  • Coffee carts
  • Lawn games for children
  • An old-fashioned culinary experience

Must-dos for Families in 2026:

  1. Meet a bodger and learn about this rare forest craft of traditional chair and furniture making
  2. Kids can visit the Kidz Zone for sword making, puppets, damper, games and more
  3. Ride an authentic Cobb & Co coach, crack a whip and learn to crochet or sew
  4. Meet the makers behind trades such as pottery, toy making, photography, candle making, violin making, spinning, weaving, Aboriginal tool making, and more

Mayor Robert Taylor affirmed that the Bathurst Heritage Trades Trail is a highlight of Bathurst’s annual events calendar and home to endless stories of the history of our region.

“As Australia’s first inland European settlement, and just 2.5hrs drive from Sydney, Bathurst is the ideal location for this annual celebration. It is a signature, award winning event of the Autumn Colours Heritage Festival that is held each year throughout the Bathurst Region, located on Wiradjuri Country.

“Tickets are on sale now. Why not purchase a pass for the history buff in your family as a gift this Christmas!” said Mayor Taylor.
