Opened in September 2022, the Central Tablelands Collections Facility (CTCF) is a large-scale 2,500 square metre repository and learning space. This facility provides state of the art collection storage with climate control, specialised racking, equipment, pest management and security for regional collections. The facility accommodates valuable collections and archives including the Bathurst Regional Council’s records repository. The space provides secure facilities for the significant objects under the custodial care of Bathurst Regional Council as well as objects from regional collection groups and larger state operated institutions.
Flexible learning and workshop spaces have been incorporated into the design providing opportunities for Bathurst Regional Council to continue to grow industry partnerships. These partnerships include the University of Melbourne’s Grimwade Centre, Australian Museum via the Somerville Collection, Art Gallery of NSW, M&GNSW, Museum of Applied Arts and Sciences (MAAS), Sydney University, Charles Sturt University (CSU) and other volunteer museum.
The Central Tablelands Collections Facility is the first of its kind in regional NSW and is a model for other local government authorities for best practice collection storage.
Reflecting this the facility has been successful in the following National and State awards:
