Jenolan Caves: Planned Reopening in early 2027

“We can’t wait to welcome you back,” says Jenolan Caves.

“In the meantime, we’re continuing important work to protect both visitors and our remarkable caves. We’re making progress towards reopening to the public in early 2027 and look forward to sharing further updates.”

Transport for NSW, Jenolan Caves Reserve Trust, NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service and Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water are working together as major repair works continue on the Two Mile section of Jenolan Caves Road.

While road repairs are progressing, Jenolan Caves Reserve Trust is delivering a major program of upgrades and maintenance across the precinct.

This includes:

Undertaking key maintenance to the infrastructure within the show caves

Restoration and refurbishment of historic Caves House

Construction of a new Blue Lake Boardwalk

Track and trail upgrades

Visitor car park improvements

Fire, flood and geohazard resilience projects

Critical infrastructure upgrades, including culverts and drainage

These projects will improve visitor safety, protect important heritage assets and support a better visitor experience when Jenolan Caves reopens to the public.

As we draw closer to reopening, we will share further updates and news via Jenolan’s social media accounts and website.

Road works update

‍The Two Mile section of Jenolan Caves Road was severely damaged by major weather events between 2021 and 2024, leading to the closure of the road and visitor access to the precinct in April 2024.

‍In response, the NSW Government commenced a program of remediation works in August 2024, led by Transport for NSW and informed by environmental, operational and heritage considerations across agencies.

‍Transport for NSW has completed significant stabilisation work and is preparing for the next phase of works, including drainage upgrades, culvert replacements and pavement reconstruction designed to improve long-term resilience.

‍These works are essential to restoring safe and reliable access to Jenolan Caves and allowing visitors to once again experience the world-renowned show caves.
