THE PLINTH SHOW: Heather Vallance at Canowindra

Works by artist Heather Vallance are on show daily until Friday 27 September 2024 at Canowindra Visitor Information Centre at the Age of Fishes Museum.

Heather Vallance is based in Canowindra NSW. These fold out books are portable visual diaries made during travelling. Heather sits and draws the world around her.

“It’s also a great way to meet and connect with the local people who come and chat while I am drawing.”

Heather has been in numerous solo and group exhibitions including the Kedumba Drawing Award 2012 and 2014; ‘Call of the Mopoke’’, a solo exhibition at Orange Regional Gallery 2014, The Calleen Art Prize; Art Alfresco, Orange Regional Gallery; Regional Central West Artists, Bondi Pavilion, Sydney; Progeny Project Exhibition and Performance, Conservatorium of Music, Orange. ‘The Sorry Tale of Fox and Bear’ is her first picture book. Heather has work in both private and public collections.

The Plinth Show is an Arts OutWest initiative showcasing artworks by local artists displayed on portable/demountable plinths in regional visitor information centres and libraries.

These ‘mini’ exhibitions are designed to enliven and promote arts and artists who live and work in places where there are fewer opportunities. Creating an accessible connection to the visual arts outside of gallery spaces, while also promoting arts and cultural tourism across the Central West. There will be 12 artists creating 12 shows over 12 months and across 12 LGAs.

Thank you to Canowindra Visitor Information Centre for hosting Arts OutWest’s third Plinth Show.
