When spring reaches its breath-taking peak, Hartvale Gardens explode into a magnificent palette of vibrant flowers & rich textures, offering an absolute paradise for oil painters, water colourists, photographers & art groups alike. The gardens, buildings and views have already captured the national spotlight having been featured on Gardening Australia and Better Homes & Gardens TV shows. The co-owner of Hartvale, Jennifer Edwards is an oil painter who, as a gardener, treats the property as her canvass filling the garden with poppies of all kinds dotted amongst all the cottage garden favourites to create an abundance of colour, light and movement for artists to capture. Hartvale boasts sweeping, dramatic views of the surrounding valley and mountain landscape allowing artists to track the shifting dynamics of natural light throughout the day, culminating in the wonderful amber glow of late afternoon.

This Halloween, audiences are invited to experience The Haunted Glass — an immersive, sensory performance by regional artist Gabrielle Bates, presented for two nights only at Kandos Kitchen.
Once a wine bar and now a beloved venue for dining, cabaret, and intimate performance, Kandos Kitchen provides a spooky setting for this uncanny, atmospheric work about wine over the Halloween weekend. Its history as a social gathering place makes it an ideal setting for a performance that blurs the line between storytelling, ritual, and shared sensory experience.
The Haunted Glass invites participants to encounter wine as a living being — an entity composed of deep time, microbial activity, colonial histories, and future ecologies. Through guided tasting, collective listening, and seance-like summonings, audiences become “mediums” for the stories held within their glasses. The work has been noted for its originality, playfulness, and its ability to transform familiar experiences into something otherworldly.
The Bathurst Arts Trail is a collective of artists throughout the Bathurst region who open their galleries to visitors on each Art’s Trail Open Weekend, which is the first weekend of each month. All of our artists are happy to have visitors to their galleries by appointment should they be unable to attend on a Trail weekend.
